Principal Judge 2018 - Robyn McDonald
With a Bachelor of Education in Art and a Diploma in Interior Design, Robyn has a breadth of experience from teaching and co-ordinating diverse art and design disciplines at secondary level including sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, photography, painting and drawing, as well as wood, metal and fashion technology, to currently lecturing in Interior Design at Torrens University, Melbourne.
Her passion for stimulating and challenging individuals interest and creativity in the arts was demonstrated during her lengthy tenure at Bayview College, Portland, through implementation of an annual Arts Festival involving specialty tutors, Artist in Residence programs, ongoing expansion of the creative arts spaces and an elective program facilitating VCE studies at year 9 & 10.
Curriculum writing and folio assessment for Monash College and Billy Blue Design School have provided valuable comparisons between secondary and tertiary tuition, while presenting at the Art Education Victoria Conference showcased some of Robyn’s inventive delivery methods. Majoring in sculptural ceramics and printmaking at university, appreciation of both two and three-dimensional media is still evident in Robyn’s current work, where the aesthetic values on forms and surfaces dominate the compositions.
